PURE
Innovation
     From Day One

PURE Humidifier Co. was incorporated in the State of Minnesota in 1982 by Willard Morton. Over the years he held various management positions and had many entrepreneurial ventures. His move into humidification began when he and his brother founded and incorporated Environmental Industries, Inc. (now known as Dri-Steem Humidifier Co.). Together they invented and patented a lightweight stainless steel separator for steam injection humidifiers in 1973. Willard later sold his share of the company to his brother in 1976.

Operations for PURE started in 1982 in a 20x26-foot garage, and Willard was the sole employee. In December of 1986, Willardís daughter, Sheryl Wilkie, joined the company to handle everything from accounting, to order entry, purchasing, and quoting. Then in 1987, Scott Mertz was hired to take over the purchasing department. During this time, production was done by a job shop.

In 1990, Willard leased a 7500 square-foot building and began in-house production. In 1993 he purchased a 5 1/2-acre site in Chaska and constructed a 27,000 square-foot building, housing both sales and production under one roof. To allow for company growth and success, he sold that building in 2001 and purchased a 100,000 square-foot building in Chaska, where the company currently resides.
